The Thing That Should Not Be - Metallica. When listening to Master Of Puppets I tend to zone out a bit when this comes up. Probably my least favorite song on that album. It would have been a standout on any post Justice album.
Cupid - King's X. I hate to say it but whenever a romance based King's X song comes up I flinch a little. Can't help but be reminded that Dug is gay and the song was probably inspired by him smooching on a hairy fella.
Don't Care -…

All Secrets Known - Alice In Chains. Haven't paid much attention to this song before. I'm missing out. This could be one of the better AIC songs ever.
In The Air Tonight - Phil Collins. I've mentioned this before but I have probably listened to this song thousands of times and have never tired of it. It's the kind of rare genius that just grabs your very fiber and doesnt let go.
Unkle Main Title Theme - UNKLE. For a throw away disc I bought more than a…

Fare Thee Well - Whitesnake. I think I was being bitchy about Whitesnake ballads a few posts ago. Not feeling nearly as perturbed by this song. Pretty damn good little power ballad.
Special Case - Massive Attack (Akufen remix). Ten minutes of shitty, uninspired drum and bass. It will be purged next time I rearrange the ipod.
Shout At The Devil - Motley Crue. Damn good song, fingers crossed that Vince will be worth a damn in a couple of…

Nobody Weird Like Me - Red Hot Chili Peppers. Psycho freak-out funk metal. Still love this song just as much as the first time I heard it.
Space - Butthole Surfers. Exactly what I expect space to sound like when high on shrooms.
I Want a Woman - Ratt. Could be my favorite Ratt song. I'm hard pressed to proclaim a favorite though. Way Cool Jr. is undoubtedly the most foul piece of shit they ever put to wax though.
Echo - Joe Satriani.…

True Colors - Cyndi Lauper. I can't think of a sweeter, more endearing song.
Empty House On A Famous Hill - Brett Detar. This was a free download. It's good enough to download for free. I'd never pay for it though.
Except The New Girl - Chris Isaak. Sappy and likable. I'd hate this song if it was anyone but Chris Isaak.
Reckless Life - Guns N' Roses. Fun song. Nothing too exceptional.
Without You - Motley Crue. It's a…

Shake Hands With Beef - Primus. Pretty much My Name is Mud without the genius.
Come Back - Pearl Jam. Slow paced song that sounds too much like early 60's rock. Meh.
Thru The Eyes Of Ruby - Smashing Pumpkins. What I imagine the Wyld Stalyns sound like when they're trying to hard to be profound.
Feathers - Coheed & Cambria. Any song named Feathers is the tits. This song has a very RATT-ish riff and Winger chorus. They make it…

High Times - Jamiroquai. Vastly underrated funk outfit. Seriously, I'd put them up there with Parliament.
Knock Me Down - Red Hot Chili Peppers. Another funky jam! Guess it's turning into Funk Friday. I'm okay with that. I bought Mother's Milk the day after I heard this song.
66 - My Jerusalem. My buddy Lee did an Afghan Whigs cover album a few years back. This is one of the tracks. My Jerusalem did a fine job turning 66 into a 70's flavored R&B…

Breaking format today so I can take in all of The Big Road by The Joy Formidable. Can't think of another female fronted band that I've liked this much. Top to bottom, great album. More than I can say for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Seriously, you need to own this album.

The End Complete III: The End Complete - Coheed and Cambria. Lots of Faith No More influence here. Scream-o shit going on without the shitty scream-o shit. Wait? I do like this song.
Piece of Your Action - Motley Crue. It's a live track so I'm blessed with hearing Vince half ass it for four minutes. In most other forms, this song is more than listenable.
Arnie - Primus. Uninspired Primus is still better than most anything else. Remember this…

Rope - Foo Fighters. The new album is fan-fucking-tastic. This song is coming close to being my number three all time favorite Foo Fighters song.
Dream Warriors - Dokken. For a forced theme song to a shitty horror movie, this is one. It just never resonated with me. George does bring a decent solo though.
Cut You In - Jerry Cantrell. I think I may have called this my favorite non Alice In Chains Alice In Chains song. The horns are spot on and perfectly…

Don't Care - King's X. Recently picked up Dog Man on Amazon, had it on tape when it came out. Damn, this is their opus. Really dig this song, the guitar is spot on.
Twilight of the Gods - Helloween. Criminally overlooked 80's metal band. Think of a cross between Queensryche and Megadeth. It works. I think they still produce new music, I may have to make a purchase this weekend.
The Gentle Art of Making - Enemies. "Happy Birthday, fucker" is one of my…

Brothers In Arms - Dire Straights. Bluesy guitar and synth dont go together like peanut butter and chocolate. Meh.
Not Tomorrow - Living Colour. LC exploring blues and progressive beat structure. I could have used more zazz though.
Bummed Out City - Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros. I love Joe Strummer and hate that I didn't pay attention to his work outside of the Clash until years after his death. The guy was a craftsman.
The Beast -…

Tonight, Tonight - Smashing Pumpkins. Love me an epic song. This one is done well too. The positivity is nice. Awww.
Of The Girl - Pearl Jam. Not enough going on here to make me pay attention. Binaural was kind of a clunker for me.
Plans - Dinosaur Jr. Well shit, I just got out of the gym and I'm not liking this down tempo stuff. I will be seeing DJ in a couple of weeks though! If they stay away from the ballads it will be the…

The Talisman - Iron Maiden. Plenty of gallopy goodness for the average Maiden fan. Anyone else would hate it. I dig it plenty.
Dynamite Steps - The Twilight Singers. Could'a been on Blackberry Belle, almost out of place on the album of the same name. It's also simple song filled with complex tones, lots of layers. I've heard this song several times but this is the first time I've really listened to it. Damn, I should have payed attention earlier.
One…

Cropduster - Pearl Jam. An afterthought song. Doesn't seem like they put a whole lot of effort into it. Too much Phish style jamming.
Ashes and Ghosts - The Cult. Beyond Good and Evil is The Cult's best album. This song is pure rock. Aggression, melody, spooky, epic.
Mayday - Tomahawk. Damn, two of my favorite 00's songs in a row. It's weird but accessible. If I had a regular job I'd turn in my notice, AS OF TWO FUCKING WEEKS AGO!
The…

Price I Pay - Jane's Addiction. huh? Too short, must be a lead in to another song. The downside of the shuffle I guess.
Universal You - The Cult. You can't go wrong with a song that has "swagger" in the lyrics. Like the bass out front. Rare for a Cult jam.
Around the World - Red Hot Chili Peppers. The rappy RHCP was kinda played out when this song came out. Never got in to it all that much.
Take Me With U - Sharon Jones and the Dap…
